Fisherman Naofumi Tarama
Naofumi Tarama is a fisherman who mainly fishes for tuna, including bluefin tuna (genuine tuna), yellowfin tuna, and bigeye tuna. He can even catch bluefin tuna that are several times his own weight using a line hook. What are the favorite places of this tough man of the sea, Tarama?
Tarama's favorite spot is just below the Southern Gate Bridge, after crossing from the city to the reclaimed land on the other side. He likes to watch the fishing boats coming and going, "scouting out to see how much that person caught that day (laughs)." His father was also involved in the construction of the bridge's foundation, which is another reason he likes this place so much.

The boat he currently uses for fishing belongs to his father-in-law, but he is in the middle of renovating it so that he can have his own boat. Apparently, he comes here to work on the days when he is not out fishing. He has been modifying the boat he received from someone so that it can carry large bluefin tuna and adding a steering device, and he makes small modifications to it every day. "The ocean that I can see while working is beautiful. I also like watching the sunset from here."

Pizzeria Il Trecorde is an authentic pizza restaurant run by a classmate. It's popular for its Neapolitan-style pizza baked in a large wood-fired oven. I come here for lunch, but sometimes I drop in for a drink in the evening.
Tarama, who likes spicy food, has a favorite dish called "Akahachi," which uses the island's chili pepper.

This is the beach between Shiraho village and the airport. Apparently, he used to come here often with his family and their dog when he was a child. He sometimes visits here because it's quiet and deserted, and he can just relax. "The beach is interesting because it's different every day," he said about his job, and it seems he just loves the beach and his job.
Born in Ishigaki Island. After returning home from Tokyo, he started helping his father-in-law, who is also a fisherman, which led him to become a fisherman himself. Currently, he mainly fishes for tuna, but he is striving to incorporate various fishing methods and catch a variety of fish.
