Snack bar owner and singer-songwriter Nagisa Hirata

Nagisa Hirata runs a bar called "Nagisa Ni Matsuwaru Etcetera" where she can perform live music, and is also an active singer herself. She is very busy performing at events and hotel shows. She began learning dance at the age of three under her mother, a Ryukyu dance teacher.

Juhachiban-gai used to be the most bustling street on the island. My grandpa's house was here, and it's where I used to play as a child. The building on the left is where my grandpa's house used to be, and diagonally across there was a movie theater. Now it's an area where my close friends often come to hang out and drink, with a row of unique establishments.

This is a tsukemen restaurant that Nagisa often visits for lunch. She always eats the Misaki beef tonkotsu tsukesoba and the bonito flakes egg rice. She loves these two dishes so much that she has never ordered anything else from the menu. "I especially love the fluffy egg rice."

This temple was built around 300 years ago. For Nagisa, this is the place to feel nature close to the city. She also comes here for the first shrine visit of the year, but she also feels like returning on other important occasions. "I love the sacred atmosphere of the approach road lined with rows of lanterns."

Nagisa says that her grandfather used to be the chairman of the Yaeyama Bullfighting Association and owned a famous bull named "Tonoshiro Typhoon," so she has loved watching bullfights since she was a child. "They're exciting and exciting. There are tournaments three or four times a year, so be sure to check them out."
