Nagisa Hirata, snack bar owner and singer-songwriter

Nagisa Hirata runs a snack bar called "Nagisa ni Matsuwaru Etcetera" where live music is played, and she is also active as a singer herself. She is very busy performing on stage at events and hotel concerts. She has been learning Ryukyu dance since she was three years old, under the guidance of her mother, who is a Ryukyu dance teacher.

This used to be the island's busiest shopping street, Juhachiban-gai. My grandfather's house was there, and it's where I played all the time as a child. The building on the left is my grandfather's house, and there used to be a movie theater diagonally across the street. Now, it's lined with unique shops owned by my close friends, and it's an area I often go to for drinks.

This is a ramen shop that Nagisa often goes to for lunch. Every time, she orders the Misaki beef tonkotsu hot dipping noodles and the bonito flake egg rice. She loves these two dishes so much that she has never ordered anything else on the menu. "I especially love the fluffy egg rice."

This temple was built about 300 years ago. For Nagisa, this is the place to go to feel close to nature near the city. She comes here for New Year's prayers, but also to visit on special occasions. "I love the sacred atmosphere of the approach to the temple, lined with lanterns."

Nagisa says she has loved watching bullfights since she was a child, partly because her grandfather used to be the chairman of the Yaeyama Bullfighting Association and owned a famous bull named "Tonoshiro Typhoon." "It's exciting and fun. There are three or four tournaments a year, so you should definitely go and see one."

Bolt Coffee is located on Manseikan Street. Nagisa doesn't drink coffee, but she likes their mandarin orange juice and often stops by. "I also like the cute atmosphere of the shop." They also serve light meals such as hot dogs.

Hirata Nagisa
Born in Maesato, Ishigaki City. After graduating from Yaeko High School, she helped out at her mother's dance studio and worked in restaurants and other places while raising her three children.
I continued my music activities, which I had been doing since high school, and even released a CD.
I opened my own shop in 2021, something I'd always wanted to do. Besides offering live music, I also host regular live performances.
